Giving Tuesday: Companies that Give Back

It’s Giving Tuesday, and I’m getting requests from a lot of worthy organizations asking me to give toward their causes. I’ve made donations today to two orgniazations with missions that are close to my heart, but I know that I can continue to give as I shop for gifts at Christmas and throughout the year.

Here are a couple of my favorite companies that give back every time I make a purchase! I threw this together quickly, so there are no sponsors and no affiliate links  . . .  just a few companies with products and missions that I love.  I know I’ve left some other favorites out, so perhaps I’ll circle back and do a more extensive post in the future!

Bright Endeavors

I love candles, and I love this company. Bright Endeavors is based in Chicago and provides employment and a job training program to young moms who might not have income otherwise. I’ve purchased more candles and given more gifts from this company than I can count over the last two years and have no plans to stop. The Sandalwood Patchouli and Vanilla Honey are my favorites, but their seasonal selection never lets me down! If you use the coupon code “ref1686231″ you and I will both get $10 off of our next $50 purchase!

31 Bits

I’m not into jewelry, but I purchased a few bracelets from 31 Bits last year and they’ve become my go-to accessories. They’re simple and cute and go with everything. I don’t see the exact ones that I purchased on their site, but the Daphne is pretty close.

At 31 Bits, they realize that customers have the purchasing power to provide dignified job opportunities to artisans all over the globe. Your spending at 31 Bits helps provide employment for people in Uganda, Indonesia and more!

And . . . thanks to this post, I just bought a few more to give as gifts. Funny how that happens.

Pura Vida

Oh, I have a funny story about my Pura Vida bracelets and my daughter feeling sorry for me beacause I had to BUY my friendship bracelets, but I’ll save that for another time. I love Pura Vida bracelets, because they allow me to accessorize without getting too fancy. I work at a camp full time, and fancy just isn’t something I get to do that often!

Pura Vida was founded in Costa Rica, but now provides sustainable jobs to artisans worldwide.

Bombas

Full Disclosure: I don’t own Bombas socks yet. I’ve ordered, but haven’t received them. I have high hopes based on reviews, though! I have a four-year-old who is so picky about her socks that it’s a battle every morning, so my fingers are crossed that these will do the trick.

Socks are the #1 most requested clothing item at homeless shelters, so at Bombas, for every pair of socks purchased, a pair is donated to someone in need.

Root Collective

I have not one, but TWO pair of Gaby flats from Root Collective and I LOVE THEM! They have so much more to offer than just shoes, so be sure to look around! The money spent at Root Collective provides much needed jobs for artisans around the world. Watch their video to find out more.

I want my money to go far this Christmas, and these companies are a great start. I’d love to hear what your favorite companies are that give back!
